During the making of his latest disaster film “9/11,” Oliver Stone questioned whether the production would ever fully capture his feelings during the actual event. “It was an amazing time in my life,” Stone opined, “a time when the CIA, FBI, NSA, KGB, Al Qaida, the ACLU, the Freemasons, and Pfizer all had a vested interest in staging one of the biggest publicity stunts in American history. I remember exactly where I was when the first tower fell. I was standing next to an attractive woman who claimed to be my wife but who would later be revealed to be a secret operative. She smelled like oranges and jasmine. I told her that this would be my next film, and she laughed. The next thing I knew, I was in a very dark, cold cell—a terrorist cell—somewhere in Cuba and electrodes were connected to my pectorals. An interrogtator was holding up pictures of John Ashcroft, Kenneth Lay, and Rudolph Giuliani, demanding that I tell him who they really worked for. Then he bludgeoned me with a Florsheim and the rest was darkness.”
